Testimonials

We always appreciate feedback on our services, as it is all part of evolving to meet the needs of our South Shore community.

If you’d like to offer any feedback, positive or constructive, contact us.

I’ve gotten binders, packers, packing underwear, things like that. Somebody else that I know has also gotten some gaffs and breast forms so that their chest can appear larger and stuff like that.… The Trans Closet has definitely made a big impact. Jace Pierce, CBC Interview

The South Shore Sexual Health Services organization has provided participants and staff with educational opportunities over the years. We promote their services in our community and support the work they do in providing a safe, confidential, non-judgmental platform where youth and adults can access the services they need. Heather Fraser, South Shore Family Resource Association.

Needless to say, they offer critical services to our South Shore community, and especially for youth at a time that is both so formative in the development of sexual identities and relationships, and also of heightened risk of sexual exploitation and sexual assault. Stacey Godsoe, Be The Peace Institute.

When thinking of homelessness, we often forget the difficulty women face in accessing feminine hygiene products. Thanks to South Shore Sexual Health, our ability to have a steady supply of feminine hygiene products and family planning products, which are discreetly placed in our washrooms, allows the folks walking through our doors access to items they are in need of. This also allows us to continue to promote sexual health and wellness. All of this could not be possible without the generous donations of these products by South Shore Sexual Health. We are very thankful for their continued collaboration with us and all the community partners. Lisa Ryan, South Shore Open Doors Association.

Julie provided us with two workshops last year – sexual wellness and healthy relationships; and basic sexual information. These were conducted with a respectful yet approachable context and process, and the young women responded in the evaluation in a highly positive manner… we found Julie to be a most professional, knowledgeable, approachable and effective person. Thanks so much for coming in today, I could not have done the grade nines this afternoon, your expertise and professionalism were very obvious! Junior High Teacher

Only qualified people should be talking about such a sensitive subject, and when a guest is presenting, the novelty of that leads to HUGE increases in student engagement and attention. Add a topic that they are all curious about, and it’s a recipe for attention and learning. I wouldn’t say there were any negative outcomes. I’m just trying to think of a way to articulate any other positive outcomes… not quantifiable. Upper Elementary Teacher.
